About The Derrico Project

 The Derrico Project is a Virginia-based customizable live band bringing polished, high-energy entertainment to weddings, corporate events, private celebrations, upscale public venues, festivals, galas, and special events throughout Virginia and the East Coast.

With more than 30 years of combined professional performance experience, husband-and-wife team Jenny and Scotty Derrico have built The Derrico Project around one simple idea: live music should feel like it was chosen specifically for your event. From intimate celebrations to elegant venues and high-profile public events, TDP creates a customized live music experience designed to complement the setting, audience, and atmosphere.


The Derrico Project has been featured in Richmond Bride and has performed for a wide range of private and public events throughout Virginia and beyond. Their reputation is built on professional musicianship, versatility, and the ability to bring the right energy to each occasion—whether that's sophisticated live music for an upscale event or a packed dance floor at a celebration.


TDP's customizable lineup ranges from a compact acoustic trio to a full five-piece band, with optional horns and additional musicians available for select events. This flexibility allows the band to create the right sound and presence for everything from intimate gatherings and cocktail hours to large-scale celebrations and upscale public performances.

With a repertoire spanning Motown, Disco, Pop, Country, R&B, Hip Hop, Rock, Funk/Soul, Jazz, Latin Tunes, and today's biggest hits, The Derrico Project delivers Custom Live Music for Every Celebration.

     The Derrico Project performs for weddings, corporate events, private parties, galas, festivals, upscale public venues, and other special events throughout Virginia and the East Coast. 

     The Derrico Project offers three primary lineup options: a 3-piece acoustic trio, a 4-piece band, or a full 5-piece band. For clients looking for an even bigger sound, musician add-ons such as horn players and additional vocalists are also available. 

     We will consult with you throughout your planning to help you decide which lineup and band composition would be the best fit for your event. In the meantime, here's a general guideline to help you choose:


    • Smaller or more intimate events: Our 3-piece acoustic trio offers a more intimate live music 

    experience with a smaller footprint.

    • Mid-size celebrations: Our 4-piece band adds a fuller sound and is a great option for keeping guests engaged and the dance floor moving.

    • Larger celebrations and high-energy events: Our 5-piece band delivers our fullest standard sound and is our most popular option for packed dance floors and larger celebrations. Optional horn players and additional vocalists can be added when desired.

     We play a wide variety of music including Motown, Disco, Pop, Country, R&B, Hip Hop, Rock, Funk/Soul, Jazz, Latin Tunes, and today's biggest hits.  We have music for a wide range of ages and energy levels, and we even know the Hora. Jenny can also sing in Spanish! 

    We are happy to learn up to three special songs per event. This can include (but is not limited to) first dances, mother/father dances, theme songs, last dances, etc.

     During the planning process, we'll send you a “Please Play” and “Please Do Not Play” spreadsheet so you can help tailor the music to your preferences. If there's a particular style of music you don't like, just let us know. Our goal is to make sure the music feels right for your event. 

     Yes! We provide professional-grade sound equipment and stage lighting for our performances. We can also work with a venue's existing sound equipment when preferred or required. 

     The duration of a live music performance can vary depending on the type of event and the preferences of the client. Our standard performance is 3–4 hours, including breaks between sets. 

     While our standard performance contract does not include live ceremony, or cocktail hour music, we’re happy to provide these services for an additional cost. 

     Yes! Jenny is an experienced emcee and can handle announcements throughout your event, helping keep everything moving smoothly from start to finish. 

     Absolutely! We keep the energy going between sets with curated playlists played through our personal devices. 

     Absolutely! The Derrico Project is based in the greater Richmond, Virginia area and regularly travels throughout Virginia and the East Coast for events. We typically ask our musicians to travel within about a 60-mile radius without additional charges to our clients, but we're happy to travel farther when needed, with additional accommodations for the band as applicable. 

     Once you complete our “Let's Start Planning Your Event” form, we'll provide you with a booking guide outlining your available options. You can then let us know which option(s) you'd like a personalized quote for, or request a consultation if you'd like help deciding what would work best for your event.

    Once we've determined the best option(s) for your event, we'll provide a custom quote. If you decide to move forward, we'll send your contract. Your date is officially reserved once the signed contract is returned with your deposit.

     Once your date is reserved, we'll provide you with an Event Planning Hub where we'll collect all of your event details, music preferences, special requests, and planning information. This allows us to collaborate with you throughout the planning process and create the perfect custom live music experience for your event. 

    Popular dates often book 6-12 months in advance. We recommend reaching out as soon as you have your date and venue to lock in the band.
